Emblem of Purple and Gold was written in 2019 commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the North Royalton High School Band Program which was founded in 1929. The North Royalton High School Band Program has a rich history full of accomplishments and accolades, and is proudly known for its “tradition of excellence.” To commemorate this milestone, composer and North Royalton High School Alumnus, David Vitale, composed this concert march to showcase the pride and spirit of the North Royalton High School Band Program and its members - and to honor its heritage and legacy - past, present, and future. The piece is written in the classic format of a traditional concert march. The title refers to the school colors: purple and gold. The basis for the “Trio” section of the march features a phrase from the NRHS Alma Mater, and this motif is interwoven throughout the piece.
